A ONE-of-a-kind Latchford mum has been told the devastating news that she has just eight weeks to live after being diagnosed with cancer.
Christine Emery, a 'beautiful soul', has always suffered from backache, but it recently became worse and she started experiencing pain down her arm and leg.
After a trip to four different doctors – where she was told she may have arthritis or gallstones – last month, the 50-year-old was told she has stage four terminal pancreatic cancer.
Tests then revealed the cancer had spread to her liver and bones and Christine, who is a mum to Alfie, 14, and Ben, 29, and grandmother to three-year-old Evolet, was told she has just eight weeks left to live.
Talking about Christine, Ben told the Warrington Guardian: “There aren’t many people like my mum.
“She just helps everyone, nothing is too much for her.
“She is always taking people to places, giving things, and looking after people.”
Her diagnosis has come as a huge shock to the family who are still coming to terms with the devastating news.
“It has all just happened so fast and everything has changed so quickly,” Ben added.
“We just have to take each day as it comes and make as many memories as we can.
“It is scary that one morning you can just wake up and that is just it.”
A neighbour of Christine’s has since set up a GoFundMe page to support the family, to help create memories, and to cover any funeral costs.
So far £2,000 has been raised and messages of support have been left to Christine who has worked at Lidl for more than eight years.
“I can't believe I'm reading this. Christine is one of those people you don't often meet, she really is a beautiful soul,” one message reads.
While another says: “Always have time for me, a bit of banter, a friendly ear. I just want to say thank you, genuine people are hard to come by, but you my darling are one of those rare people.”
