The family of a woman who died after being reported missing in Warrington has launched a fundraiser in her memory.

Thea Newton’s body was found in Sankey Bridges after she was reported missing last month.

A fundraiser, for mental health charity Lancashire Mind, has been set up in memory of the 29-year-old, who moved to Warrington around two years ago.

The fundraiser says: “Thea sadly passed away on June 16, 2023 aged 29.

“The dearly loved and adored daughter of David and Kim, much loved partner of Mark, loving sister of Joseph and Zander and very much loved by all family and her many friends.

“Service and internment will take place at St Helen’s Church, Waddington on Thursday, July 6 at 12pm.

“To reflect Thea’s personality, it is requested that an item of colour be worn. Family flowers only please, donations in Thea’s memory are invited for Mind.

“Taken too soon.”

Kind words and tributes have been paid to the former Waddington and West Bradford primary school pupil.

Her dad David Newton, from Clitheroe, said: “The last week has been extremely difficult.

“We are a close family and have taken and given support to each other.

“The family and Thea’s many friends have been overwhelmed by the messages of support.”

David said those chose to raise money for Mind as the charity is in need of our support.

He said: “We as a family chose Lancashire Mind because this charity provides help and assistance to those that need it most. We feel that Mind are best able to fill the gap that exists.

“Mind only exists through donations so it is important to all of us that the charity is able to reach those that are in need.

“The lovely comments combined with the donations are testimony to how well Thea was thought of and the relevance of this charity.”

David said Thea, who once attended Blackburn College and Ribblesdale High School, was “perfect in every way”.

He said: “We, Thea’s family and friends are over whelmed by the generosity.

“Thea was our amazing daughter sister, partner and friend.

“Perfect in every way. I could use every adjective and still not have enough words.

“I cannot find the words to explain how much she meant to all her family and how much she will be missed and loved by family and friends.”

Cheshire Police were searching for personal trainer, who used to work at Absolute Fitness in Clitheroe, on the Trans Pennine Trail and surrounding areas after she was reported missing from her Warrington home.

Her car was found parked near Sunflower Drive, with officers, along with search and rescue teams and the drone, proceeding to search the area.

On June 17, police issued an update and said:“Search teams looking for missing woman Thea Newton, 29, in Warrington have sadly found a body.

“It is believed to be Thea and her next of kin have been informed.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
