STARTING a career in teaching is no easy feat but Amy Roden is clearly making a good impression on pupils, parents and colleagues alike as she has scooped New Teacher of the Year Award.
Thirteen outstanding winners have been honoured as part of this year’s Warrington Guardian Education Awards.
The annual awards aim to celebrate schools, nurseries and colleges across the town, championing pupils and students, teachers and assistants, and classes and teams.

Amy teaches at Fox Wood School and “always goes above and beyond in her role as a teacher” working in the special needs school.
Amy supports the children’s learning and personal development fostering fantastic relationships with parents and the team, bringing the fun into the classroom.
The nomination for Amy said: “Amy is a real inspiration and it’s a pleasure to be part of her team.
“She qualified last year and teaches a beautiful Year 1 class, going above and beyond in making sure our children can become independent and learn new skills.
“She has taken to this role amazingly well and we’re all so proud of her.”
Lucinda Duffy, headteacher at Fox Wood, added: “Amy is simply the most wonderful, caring, creative, inspiring and hard-working teacher, and we are so proud to have supported her on her journey from her role as a teaching assistant at our school into teaching, and delighted that she then chose to apply for a teacher’s job here with us.
“At Fox Wood our motto is ‘Together We Shine’ and Amy is living proof that, while our pupils are at the heart of everything that we do, our aspirations for, and belief in, our staff team also follow this same motto.

Amy, who has been teaching for 18 months, said: “I’m thrilled to receive this award – it was such a shock but a lovely surprise.
“I couldn’t do my job without my fabulous teaching assistants – it’s a real team effort here at Fox Wood.”
