THREE inspirational girls will complete a 25-mile fundraising walk next month, in memory of their best friend.
St Matthews Stretton Primary school pupils, Phoebe McCluskey, Jessie Collins and Gabriella Flynn plan to take on the ‘mammoth’ challenge which will see them hiking through the well-known Sandstone Trail in Cheshire.
After dealing with the devastating loss of their cherished friend and fellow classmate Kitty, the girls decided they wanted to raise money for Solving Kids Cancer by opening a funding page.
To summarise the event, the determined trio said: “Hello we are Phoebe, Jessie and Gabriella and we are trying to raise some money in loving memory of our best friend Kitty who sadly lost her battle with cancer last year.
“We have been best friends since we were tiny. We will be walking the Sandstone Trail from Bickerton to Frodsham.”
The trail runs along Cheshire’s Sandstone Ridge and the three girls hope not only to raise some money but to encourage people to take part in the event with them on July 23.
They added: “If you would like to join us for any part of our walk, we would love to see you."
Jessie’s proud mother, Samantha explained how hard the girls have been training in preparation for the big day, while also running a fundraising page and encouraging donations for the charity.
“They have been training really hard for the walk even in the heatwave and are up to 13.5 miles so far, which still leaves a long way to go,” she said.
“We think the walk will take them all day to complete so will be travelling early to get to the start point for around 7am.”
So far, the Just Giving Page has been flooded with donations and kind words of encouragement and more than £1,400 has been raised.
Samantha added: “Kitty went through so much, she was so brave. The girls are really keen to raise as much money as possible so they can help fund research to find a cure.”
