NEWTON-LE-WILLOWS' favourite son, Rick Astley, could be set to team up with indie-rock band Blossoms at Glastonbury music festival.
The 57-year-old singer is set to open performances on the festival's famous Pyramid Stage at midday tomorrow, Saturday.
This will be the first time in his career that Astley has performed at the world-famous music event, which is held in Somerset every year.
Rumours have been swirling that Astley would take to the stage in an unannounced gig with indie-rock band Blossoms - with whom Astley has performed in the past.
Notably, Rick Astley teamed up with the band in 2021 to perform a tribute concert to Manchester '80s icons the Smiths.
Now, it appears as though the artists will collaborate once more in tribute to the cult indie legends.
Speaking on BBC Radio 2 today, Friday, co-organiser of Glastonbury music festival Emily Eavis accidentally confirmed that Astley would take to the stage with Blossoms once more.
When the co-organiser was asked about the rumours, she replied 'Yep,' before checking if the interview was being broadcast live.
It is being reported that Astley and Blossoms will take to the Woodsies Stage on Saturday, June 24, between 6-7pm.
The Woodsies Stage was formerly known as the John Peel stage - named after the influential producer and DJ.
Famously, the Smiths recorded twists on their own songs in 1983, which were released in 1988 as 'The John Peel Sessions.'
Earlier this year, bassist of the Smiths, Andy Rourke, passed away following a battle with pancreatic cancer - he was 59 years old.
Rick Astley was one of a number of artists who paid tribute to the Smiths bandmember, writing: "Very sad news about Andy Rourke.
"I met Andy with Mike Joyce in LA in the 80s.
"Such lovely guys, made time to chat to a kid from Newton-le-Willows, heroes!
"R.I.P.
"Love to his family and friends."
Rick Astley will perform on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury on Saturday, June 24, from 12pm - Blossoms and Rick Astley will also perform on the Woodsies Stage at 6pm on the same day.
