POLICE closed a slip road on the motorway in Warrington this morning, Monday, after an alleged drink driver crashed into a barrier.
At around 3am, a patrol officer came across an Audi on the exit slip road at junction 21, Woolston, on the M6 southbound.
The driver had collided with the barrier there causing around 70ft of damage to it.
As a result, the slip road was closed but has since been reopened.
A breath test was carried out and according to police, the driver was more than double over the legal limit. They were arrested as a result.
A Tweet from North West Motorway Police reads: “One of our Cheshire Patrols came across this vehicle around 3am on the exit slip junction21 M6 southbound.
“The driver had collided with the barrier, causing 70 feet of barrier damage.
“Driver gave a positive breath test - blew 91 at the roadside and 90 in custody.”
The vehicle has been seized.
