IF you have ever dreamed of seeing your favourite Disney characters brought to life in scarecrow form, then you may want to pay a certain area of Warrington a visit over the coming weeks.
The Disney-themed scarecrow festival will begin tomorrow, Saturday, when entrants from all over Penketh will have their creations centre stage and visible outside their homes.
The scarecrows will be judged by a panel in a few weeks' time.
Each applicant who joins the festival will be included in a fun walking trail designed by event organisers at Penketh and Cuerdley Residents Association.
Children within the community will be able to enjoy the magical Disney trail and scarecrows will stay on display from June 17 up until June 30.
Among this year’s current event entrées is everyone’s favourite talking snowman, Olaf, as well as the terrifying villain Cruella De Vil and the 101 Dalmatians.
Event organiser Will Ferris spoke of the reasons the association has begun organising more events within Penketh.
“We want to do these events and projects to encourage participation from residents,” he said.
“The goal is to encourage the spirit of community and put a smile on the face of individuals.”
A panel of three judges will decide who wins the prize for the three categories, business, family and school.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Sunday, July 2 at St Paul’s Church in Penketh.
To register for the festival, contact Will at penkethscarecrowfest@gmail.com with your name, address and the category you would like to apply for.
