SERVING top quality fish and chips every day is no mean feat but Sava and Maria Mylonas have clearly got the recipe for success.
The couple, who run FishNet in Latchford, have followed up last year’s Best for Fish and Chips win and added the 2023 title to their collection.
FishNet on Thelwall Lane battered the competition from nine other fish and chip plaices and has been crowned Warrington’s Best for Fish and Chips 2023.
Each week, we will be searching for the best Warrington has to offer in different categories.
Ashleigh Hair and Beauty took the first Best of 2023 title – Best for Hair - and Tomlins is officially Best for Pies with Bamboo Hair and Beauty being crowned Best for Nails.
Heaths 26 is Best for Roast Dinner, Dead Eyes was announced as Best for Cocktails and Café Blu in Whitecross is Best for Breakfast.
Daniel Warburton at RM Boxing and Fitness took last week’s Best for Fitness award.
Voting for Warrington’s Best for Tattoos is currently taking place and we’re also looking for nominations in our latest search - Best for Pizza.
Next on the menu was fish and chips and FishNet served up a second victory in the competition winning back-to-back titles.
Cyprus-born Sava and Maria Mylonas opened FishNet in June 2018 having worked at Maria’s family fish and chip shop in Widnes in the 1990s and then opening their own shop in Chester.
The couple offer award-winning fish and chips – usually cod or haddock and sometimes plaice or seabass – and serve it with mushy peas or gravy and two types of curry sauce – a mild and fruit one or a hot and spicy one.
Kebabs, burgers and gyros are also big sellers with the fish, chips and sauce special costing £7.40.
Sava said: “We only source the best ingredients and they’re bought fresh at the market every day.
“The quality of food we provide sets us apart from our competitors together with our focus on customer service.”
But what do the customers think of FishNet’s fish and chips? Why do they think it deserves the latest Best of 2023 title?
One nomination said: “This is the best fish and chips in England never mind in Warrington.
“It’s delicious, freshly made and there’s something for everyone on their menu.”
Sava said: “We’re a family-run business and our two sons work here.
“I’m very grateful to all my staff for all their hard work.
“It’s a very busy shop – Fridays and Saturdays are our busiest days – and I’m often here from 7.30am until 10pm six days a week.”
He added: “The continuous support from our customers means so much to us, especially now as times are hard for everyone.
“We’re very grateful for their votes and for their custom.
“We’re proud of our work and it shows we’re doing something right when we get recognition for our efforts.”
