Ibrahim Faraj 'abduction' to Saudi Arabia raised in Parliament by MP

The Warrington Guardian previously released details surrounding Ibrahim Faraj's 'abduction' to Saudi Arabia by his father, and Warrington resident, Hamzah Faraj. 

Due to Saudi Arabia's lack of an extradition treaty, Ibrahim has been in Saudi Arabia away from his mother for seven months now. 

During a session of questions for Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, MP Mike Amesbury raised the issue, asking for a meeting with the Secretary of State or a Government minister to move the matter forward.

He said: "Seven year old Ibrahim [Faraj] was abducted by his estranged father last year from a local school in my constituency. His mother is naturally distraught."

Ibrahim went to a school in Frodsham at the time of his abduction, within Mr Amesbury's constituency of Weaver Vale. 

"Would the Security of State or a minister meet with me to discuss this matter or help move things forward?"

Mr Cleverley responded, stating that he will "ensure that the honorable gentleman has access to either a minister, or indeed the most appropriate officials in the consular department." 

Ranem Elkhalidi, Ibrahim's mother, posted a video of the question, thanking Mr Amesbury for the support he has provided her since the abduction. 

She said: "Big thank you to Mike Amesbury MP for helping raise awareness and to help bring my little boy Ibrahim home."
