DESPITE the soaring temperature last weekend there was plenty of mud in Warrington as fundraisers took on the Cancer Research Race For Life and Pretty Muddy events.
Thousands of people descended on Victoria Park in Latchford yesterday, Sunday, for the annual fundraisers that involves running 3km, 5km or 10km or attempting the Pretty Muddy obstacle course.
There were both adult races and events for children giving people of all ages the chance to raise money for a worthy cause.
Lucy Miller completed Pretty Muddy in memory of her auntie Lisa College, who passed away in November last year.
Lisa, who was 43 and was “the life and soul of any party”, fought cancer four times in her mouth, tongue, lymph nodes and thyroid.
Sixteen-year-old Lucy wanted to take part in Pretty Muddy in memory of her auntie who was “a beautiful person inside and out”.
Kieran’s Krew ran for Kieran Shingler, who is currently battling a bran tumour and it was the biggest group of runners Race for Life has seen.
Some 110 people took part in the Warrington event raising more than £10,000
Kieran Shingler is currently fighting a brain tumour. It was so important for us to raise money for Brain Cancer Research. We hit the £10,000 mark and we're still counting!
