A TOP-RATED pop culture podcast is set to be celebrating its one-year anniversary of activities in Warrington.
'Attack of the 50ft Nerds' focuses on all aspects of films, television, comic books, and other avenues of 'geekdom' and has been airing since 2012.
The podcast began recording in Warrington last year to celebrate its 10th anniversary, but that has become a year-long residency.
Now, the podcast will host a special celebration in recognition of having its home in Warrington for a year.
The podcast's team has been running live comedy shows from Warrington's Geek Retreat, off Crown Parade, and now is ready to celebrate the anniversary of these shows.
As per the podcast's team: "[Attack of the 50ft Nerds] was formed in 2012 when Mike Bell and Amara Wears met at a comedy night in Manchester, the podcast looks over all aspects of pop culture, covering movies, comics, TV shows, people in geekdom and the weirdest news stories from around the world, alongside jokes and bad impressions."
Mike Bell said: "What started as a way for us to celebrate ten years of the podcast has become a year-long residency, and has really taken the show into a new era."
He added: "Performing our unique blend of geek news and comedy, in a style we have coined 'Sit-Down Stand-Up', for audiences each month has been a blast and we've gained loyal followers and given away a ton of great prizes along the way in our 'Beyond the 50ft Nerds' Q&A section.
"We're celebrating one year of our live shows and would love for folks to come down and check us out if they haven't before, or come on back for more hilarity.
"Geek Retreat Warrington is the perfect venue for us, almost as if it were tailor-made for our audience, and we thank Doug and the team for having us.”
Attack of the 50ft Nerds will hold its one-year anniversary event at Geek Retreat in Warrington on Sunday, June 25, from 7pm.
