JUNE is a packed more for festival and events in Warrington.

From walking days to carnivals, there is plenty to enjoy.

Here is our round-up of some of the days out you can enjoy this month.

Bawming the Thorn

The traditional Appleton Thorn 'Bawming the Thorn' will take place on Saturday, June 17 at 12pm.

The whole community are invited to join the parade from the Primary School to the village tree behind a marching band; watch the traditional dances and join the village choir to sing the traditional Bawming Song, then parade back behind the band to the school.

Afterwards, the primary school is hosting its very first 'Bawm Fest' at 1pm, a celebration of music and dance including performances on stage from pupils, community members, musicians and local bands. In addition to local merchant stalls, fete games, delicious street food, drinks, cocktails and ice cream. 

Thelwall Rose Queen

This year is extra special as it marks 1,100 years of history in Thelwall.

The Rose Queen event will return to Thelwall village on Saturday, June 17 for a fantastic day of processions, competitions, entertainment and stalls.

The fun kicks off with the procession around the village at 1pm, before returning to the Parish Hall field for displays in the arena as well as a host of food, games, cakes and much more.

There will also be the 7th Annual Scarecrow Parade the week before, with amazing scarecrows displayed around the village.

Padgate and Woolston Walking Day

The walking day is one of the biggest on the calendar in Warrington.

This year's takes place on Saturday, June 24.

The event sees churches from Padgate and Woolston join together for the traditional procession of faith along Padgate Walking Day.

Lymm Festival 

Lymm Festival is back for an 11-day extravaganza to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The festival - which is the 25th to be held, according to the organiser - will kick off on Thursday, June 22 and will conclude on Sunday, July 2.

Lymm Historic Transport Day

Lymm Historic Transport Day takes place on June 25.

One of the events of Lymm Festival, this has become one of the biggest events in Cheshire.

Warrington Guardian: Lymm Historic Transport Day

It runs between 10am and 5pm.

It starts with a parade through the village before events on the May Queen Field and in the rest of the village.

You can even get a ride on an historic bus from the parking at the rugby club into the village.

Warrington Walking Day

To round off the month, there is perhaps the biggest event of the year.

Warrington Walking Day takes place in the town centre on Friday, June 30.

Hundreds will take part in the parade with thousands more watching.

Schools and churches parade to the Town Hall before following a route through the town centre in the event which dates back almost 200 years.
