LOOKING for ways to entertain the kids this half term? Or maybe you just fancy a day out.

Well Knowsley Safari Park is a short trip down the motorway from Warrington and offers a great day out.

Making the most of a sunny Saturday, we decided to visit.

On top of the traditional safari park experience, a Seaside Carnival providing all sorts of entertainment and activities is currently taking place from May 27 to June 4.

So as well as enjoying the classic foot and drive safari tours, we were able to enjoy pier-themed games stalls - including everyone’s favourites coconut shy and ball in the bucket - traditional stilt performers, and a number of interactive workshops which were enjoyed by plenty of the park’s youngest visitors.

The current event only adds to what is already a brilliant day out at Knowsley and in a way, makes you feel like you are getting more for your money with a whole host of extra activities to enjoy.

Warrington Guardian:

Seaside Carnival aside, a highlight of our day out was of course the safari drive tour.

In a bid to keep our window wipers intact, we decided to opt for the park’s baboon bus tour (which comes at a slight extra cost).

So as well as receiving a brilliant and informative commentary on the way around from our knowledgeable driver, we were able to experience the baboons in full force.

The safari drive also allows you to get up close and personal with many of the park’s animals including lions and rhinos, so it is definitely a must.

And to further make the most of your day you can enjoy a number of free shows including the sea lion display and can choose to either dine out at the on-site restaurant or for a cheaper alternative, enjoy a homemade picnic.

So if you're looking for a fun-filled family day out, make sure you visit Knowsley Safarari Park this half term.
