A DISTRAUGHT mother-of-three is pleading for help to find her one-year-old miniature poodle who was reportedly stolen after escaping from her garden in Orford.
Claire Hill last saw her beloved family pet, Betty, on May 13 when she fled from the garden of her family home on Cherwell Close.
Betty is described as a black mini poodle who is ‘very friendly’ when approached. She is ‘desperately missed’ by Claire and her daughters.
The last reported sighting of Betty was on the corner of Sandalwood Close when an individual witnessed the poodle ‘being put into a red car’ by a woman described as having ‘dark hair, medium build, and in her 40’s’.
Claire said when the witness approached the woman and asked if she knew who the owner of the dog was, she replied ‘yes’.
The incident was reported to Cheshire Police who are inquiring for information from anyone who may have details about the potential dog napping.
Claire stated that on Friday, May 19, a woman of the same description was reportedly seen by a family friend in the same red vehicle on Long Lane, opposite the local convenience shop, with a dog ‘exactly like Betty’ in the car.
“Our daughters desperately miss Betty; they do not understand how somebody can take somebody’s pet. They miss giving her bell rubs and my youngest says she misses her barking.”
A spokesperson from Cheshire Police provided a statement on the incident, saying: “At 9.45am on Saturday 13 May police received reports of the theft of a dog in Cherwell Close, Warrington.
“The caller reported that their dog, a black mini poodle, went missing on Thursday 11 May after escaping from the garden.
“Following the disappearance, the owner posted a message on social media and was contacted by an unknown person who stated that they believed the dog had been picked up by an unknown person and put into the back of a car.
“Anyone with any information should contact Cheshire police at www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us quoting IML 1546213.”
