TODAY is national fish and chips day.
A whole day dedicated to a British tradition – an institution.
What makes a good serving of fish and chips?
Is it the crispy batter surrounding the flaky fish served with perfectly cooked chips?
Do you add mushy peas or gravy or curry sauce?
Do they taste better when you eat them out of yesterday’s newspapers?
In the latest category of our Best of 2023 competition we want to know where in Warrington we can get the perfect portion of fish and chips and there’s no better time to start our search than on national fish and chip day, which showcases one of life’s simple pleasures.
Your local chippy could be your favourite or you might take a walk or a drive to a pub or restaurant that serves the best fish and chips in the town.
So far in our Best of 2023 competition, we’ve searched for Warrington’s Best for Hair, Best for Pies and Best for Nails and then Best for Roast Dinner, Best for Cocktails and Best for Breakfast, with the shortlist for the town’s Best for Fitness revealed yesterday, Thursday.
This week, it’s fish and chips and we know it will be no easy feat to choose a winner which is why we’ll be handing over the final decision to those who know best – our readers.
HOW IT WORKS:
Each Friday morning we will reveal new categories via our social media pages and ask you who is the best. Nominations will then close each Monday morning at 12pm.
Every Thursday we will publish a shortlist of finalists with voting officially opening.
You will be able to vote in one of three ways:
- By commenting under the relevant post on our Warrington Guardian Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages = 1 vote
- By entering via the online article on our Warrington Guardian website = 2 votes
- By entering via our Warrington Guardian newspaper = 5 votes
The following Wednesday evening we will announce the winner of that category on social media.
Usual Newsquest competition rules apply.
