Warrington Ukrainian Hub nominated for regional awards

The hub has been nominated in BBC Radio Manchester's annual 'Make a Difference' awards.

Based in the Daten, off Charnock Road in Culcheth, the Ukrainian Family Hub has been shortlisted in the Community Group category.

Making the announcement on social media, the Ukrainian Family Hub said: "We are honoured to have been shortlisted for the Community Group BBC Radio Manchester’s 'Make a Difference' awards 2023

"We could not have done this without the support and hard work of our amazing team of volunteers, guests, their hosts, and the generosity of the local community.

"We would like to thank everyone that has helped our guests feel welcome in Culcheth over the last 12 months."

The hub was established shortly after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and has helped refugees settle into the communities across Warrington.

Various events have been hosted by the hub, and it runs the majority of its services from the Daten's Sunflower Community Kitchen, which has recently been renovated with the help of donations and support from businesses and individuals in the community of Culcheth.

There are eight different categories in this year's BBC Radio Manchester 'Make a Difference' awards, which are:

• Community Group Award
• Green Award
• Together Award
• Bravery Award
• Carer Award
• Great Neighbour Award
• Fundraiser Award
• Volunteer Award

As per BBC Radio Manchester's website, the awards are 'your chance to say “thank you” and show recognition and appreciation for people who love to make life better for others.'

Nominations have now closed, and the judging panel will be making its decisions in the coming weeks - the awards ceremony is due to take place in September.
