A POLICE car crashed down a set of stairs in Widnes on Thursday night while following a scooter rider.
The Cheshire Police vehicle crashed after chasing a scooter through Ann Street West in Widnes.
The crash left the vehicle stranded halfway down a set of stairs, with the below photo demonstrating the precarious position the car was left in.
This, however, has angered residents, who said it was lucky nobody was hurt.
One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “Not happy about the speed down a residential street. Imagine what could have happened if someone was coming up the steps? It’s shocking."
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "At around 8.55pm on Thursday, May 11 a police car was involved in a minor collision on Ann Street West, Widnes.
"The officers had been following an electric scooter which was being ridden illegally when it was involved in the collision.
"There were no reports of any injuries."
