DELAYS are building along London Road in Stockton Heath after temporary lights have been put in place to carry out work removing a bus stop.
Queuing traffic and congestion is being experienced in both directions of the main street, with one of the temporary lights situated outside Ilhams Barbers.
The work is part of the councils extensive plan to remove over 200 bus shelters across the borough and replace them with new ones.
A spokesperson from Warrington Borough Council confirmed that company, ClearChannel 'installed in excess of 230 bus shelters across the borough as part of a commercial agreement' with them which ended in 2022.
They said: "The vast majority of those that have been removed and those that remain are due to be replaced with new shelters under the agreement signed with the incoming supplier."
The new supplier, Alight Media, have entered into a new contract with the council and new digital billboards are appearing curbside throughout Warrington as they begin to replace the existing bus stops - London Road being one of the latest to be removed.
