UPDATE: THE M62 eastbound is expected to stay closed this afternoon between Junction 10 and 11.

This is due to a large diesel spillage on the road from the fatal collision on the M62 that saw a 61 year old man die.

Due to the spillage, a full road resurface is required.

A serious multi-vehicle collision on the M62 has closed the motorway for several hours, with police investigations underway.

National Highways has announced that the motorway is closed eastbound between Croft Interchange (Junction 10) and Birchwood Interchange (Junction 11).

The link roads from the M6 Junction 21A northbound and southbound onto the M62 eastbound are both closed as well.

This is due to what has been described as a “very serious multi-vehicle collision.”

Emergency services remain in attendance, including Cheshire Police.

A “police collision investigation” will be taking place, with the road expected to remain closed for hours.

National Highways has provided a diversion route headed eastbound due to expectations the road will remain closed for a long period.
