UPDATE 2: ALL lanes have re-opened, delays remain due to ongoing traffic and congestion.
UPDATE: FURTHER queues are building on the M6 by Lymm Interchange, Junction 20, with a car having broken down in the queues formed as a result of the HGV incident. One lane is currently closed with queues growing.
The M6 is facing over four miles of congestion after an HGV shed its load across the carriageway.
The incident occurred between the Warrington exit of the M6 (Junction 21), and Junction 21A, the M62 interchange.
National Highways state there is four miles of congestion, causing delays of 30 minutes above usual journey times.
Two lanes have been closed.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police has said: "Shortly after 3pm today, Tuesday 25 April, police were made aware that a HGV had shed its load on the M6 between J21 and J21a.
Lanes one and two are currently closed while highways officers deal with the incident."
