WARRINGTON Borough Council (WBC) has replaced bins in Stockton Heath for free after they were ‘mysteriously’ removed.
Concerns had been raised after around eight houses, on Fairfield Road, recently had their blue bins removed, the day after the normal collection day, by someone who seemed to be a WBC employee – in a hi-vis with a WBC logo, and in a white van.
Residents saw this and did not challenge it and assumed the bins would be replaced.
Cllr Judith Wheeler says that WBC deny all knowledge of this, so it is a ‘total mystery’.
The bins were used appropriately and kept neatly, and it has not happened anywhere else in Stockton Heath.
Cllr Wheeler said: “I would like WBC to find out who removed the bins, why and would they please replace them.”
The council has provided a short statement on the issue.
A spokesman said: “We are aware of a number of missing bins on Fairfield Road in Stockton Heath, which were replaced free of charge on Wednesday 19 April.”
