Warrington Guardian Best Of 2023 top eight pie shops revealed

After launching our new Best of 2023 competition in the Warrington Guardian earlier this month, we wanted to know where to buy the best pies – sweet or savoury.

In our first Best of 2023 category we were looking at the best hair salons, barbers and independent stylists in the town.

This week, pies were the focus and after receiving dozens on nominations over the weekend we have shortlisted a top eight, who will battle it out to be named the best in Warrington.

But now we need your help to choose an overall Best for Pies winner from our top eight.

There are three ways to vote:

1. Search for the Best for Pies shortlist post on our Warrington Guardian Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages and comment under the post with the name of your winner = 1 vote

2. Name your favourite in the comments section on this article via our website = 2 votes

3. Purchase a copy of this week’s Warrington Guardian (April 27 edition) and fill in the entry form = 5 votes

Voting officially opens today, Thursday, and closes at midnight on Monday, May 1 and we will be announcing the winner next week.

Nominations say this is “the best bakery ever” with one customer saying she’s been buying their pies for more than 50 years.

The traditional pies and recipes are still a big part of the business but new flavours like kiwi mince, cheese pie and chunky steak and gravy have made their way onto the menu.

This three-year-old pie shop has already scooped several national pie awards and they have new fillings each week.

One recommendation said: “There’s only one winner here – To Pie For offers something different to your conventional pies and pastries.”

Currall’s, Thelwall Lane, Latchford

These pies are “awesome” and described as the “best in Warrington”.

One reviewer said that “no other pies compare”.

There were several nominations for this family-run business.

One said: “They have a homemade taste that’s rich in flavour - just delicious.”

Another said: “Their pork pies are next level!”

These are “amazing homemade pork pies” with several different toppings and flavours.
