THE amazing talent of a professional touring dance group surprised the children of a primary school in Appleton for the day.
St Monica’s Catholic Primary School greeted the members of Allegrodance and had the pleasure of watching them perform in their own school hall.
The morning was spent preparing and transforming the school hall into a theatre ready for the performance.
Children were in awe as they arrived at school to find dancers scuttling to and fro as they prepared for their performance.
Pupils were greeted with bright lights and exciting props as they watched the dancers in preparation.
The narrator of the company guided the children through her script of the variety of genres that they were going to be watching which included, classical ballet, jazz, contemporary, Spanish, tap, modern dancing and musical theatre.
For many excited faces watching, this was their first experience of witnessing a theatre production in motion and it allowed the children to understand the components of a production.
An ‘array of talent’ was shown by the team at KS Dance school, who run the tour group Allegrodance.
A spokesperson for St Monica’s said: “St Monica’s feel that performance and exposure to the arts gives the children a wonderful opportunity to express themselves as individuals and shine as brightly as they wish to shine.”
