BENTS Garden and Home is celebrating raising a mammoth sum for its 2022 charity of the year.
The ever-popular garden centre - which was recently named best in the north west - has announced the sum it raised for its charity of the year for 2022, which was Manchester Mind.
Manchester Mind is a mental health charity, and the garden centre presented them with a cheque to the tune of £23,500.
Customers at the garden centre, as well as members of staff, were encouraged to support the charity throughout 2022, which explains the monumental sum that was raised for Manchester Mind, which has promoted mental health support for 30 years.
Joanna Huddart, fundraising manager at Manchester Mind, visited Bents to accept the donation - she said: “We’re humbled by the level of support shown to our local mental health charity, especially during the cost of living crisis, when many more people are experiencing poor mental health and in need of our help.
"We appreciate the fantastic community spirit of Bents’ staff, clients and customers who kindly raised this generous donation.
"Thank you for making a lasting impact on our local services, ensuring we can continue to be there for 7,000 young people and adults in need this year.”
Bents Garden and Home has recently unveiled its 2023 charity of the year, which is the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Matthew Bent, managing director at Bents, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have raised so much for Manchester Mind and I would like to say a big thank you to all our customers and colleagues who have helped throughout the year to make the campaign such a success.
"We are now looking forward to working with the team from the MND Association, another fantastic cause and one which we are keen to do just as well for in 2023.”
The team at Bents were joined by members of the MND Association on the day of the donation.
Charlotte Taylor, corporate development executive at the association, said: “We are grateful to be chosen as Bents charity partner for 2023.
" The funds raised by Bents employees and customers will help us fund our network of 22 MND Care centres which provide coordinated multi-disciplinary care which has been shown to improve quality of life and life expectancy for those with MND."
