FRIENDS of Penketh Library (FoPL) is set for a busy time over the next few weeks with events designed to appeal to both young and older residents.
The friends group is currently running a Coronation Crown competition for children in three age groups, pre-school, five to seven and seven to 11. To enter, collect a free crown template from the library on Honiton Way, design and decorate it and return it to the library by Thursday, April 27.
The completed crowns will be on display from Saturday, April 29 to Thursday, May 4 with visitors to the library voting for their favourites from each age group.
There will be a prize for the winner of each age group category and only crown templates collected from Penketh Library are eligible for the competition.
On Saturday, May 13, music will be in the air to celebrate the Eurovision Song Contest when the Phoenix Community Choir will be singing in the library from 11.30am.
Tea, coffee and ‘continental’ biscuits will be available from 11am.
May is Local and Community History Month and FoPL has invited local historian and author Janice Hayes to talk about her book Celebrating Warrington.
The event is at Penketh Library on Wednesday, May 17, starting at 7pm.
Tickets are £2.50 and are available from the library.
