A PENKETH hair salon proved a cut above the rest at a regional contest.

The artists team at O'Neill's Hair and Beauty won first and second place in the photographic competition at the World of Glass in St Helens in the North of England Hair Awards 2023.

Judges said the standard was very high at the event and congratulated everyone who gained an award against tough competition.

These competitions have replaced the Blackpool competitions in previous years, and will now be a new yearly event.

Salon owner Carl O'Neill said “It was wonderful to take part in the photographic section as it was the only competition I was unable to judge.

"It was great to see the high volume of students entering the many different categories.”
