BODYCAM footage from Merseyside Police shows the moment killer Thomas Cashman was arrested down the road from Warrington.

In the early hours of September 4 last year, armed officers swooped on Cashman at an address in Runcorn.

In the footage, Cashman, who was convicted of the murder of nine-year-old Olivia-Pratt Korbel yesterday, Thursday, is being forced to lie on his front as officers point guns at him shouting: “Show us your hands, get your hands behind your head.”

Cashman can be heard saying: “My hands are in the air, I’ve got nothing on me.

"I ain't resisting one little bit. I just want to know what I've done, that's all.

“All I want to know is what I am arrested for.”

An officer can then be heard telling him he is arrested on suspicion of murder and two counts of attempted murder to which he responds: “What are yous on about murder? I haven’t committed no offence what yous are talking about.”

After a three-week trial, yesterday, Thursday, 34-year-old Cashman was convicted of the murder of Olivia-Pratt Korbel.

Cashman, of West Derby, set out to kill Joseph Nee on August 22 while armed with two guns.

Cashman, of West Derby, lay in wait for his target who he chased down Kingsheath Avenue, Dovecot.

CCTV evidence shown at the Manchester Crown Court trial recorded three loud bangs and showed how Nee, struck in the midriff, fell to the ground. But he was able to get away from 34-year-old Cashman due to one of the guns malfunctioning.

Nee then ran to a nearby unconnected house for safety. This was the home of Cheryl Korbel and her family.

Cashman did not give up and pursued Nee to the address. He fired again as Ms Korbel tried to block his entry to the house. The bullet hit Ms Korbel in the hand, then hit and killed her daughter Olivia who was standing behind her.

Olivia was rushed to nearby Alder Hey Children's Hospital by two police officers who arrived on the scene a short time later, but she had been fatally wounded.

After the shooting, Cashman, a dad-of-two, fled to the house of a woman he’d had a relationship with and changed his clothes. This woman, who cannot be named, became a key witness for the prosecution.

When arrested in Runcorn on September 29, Cashman was charged with Olivia’s murder. He was also charged with the attempted murder of Joseph Nee, wounding of Cheryl Korbel with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm and two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He denied the offences and told a jury during his trial that he had been in the area as a drug dealer, but was not the gunman.
