TWO former Warrington Wolves players are among those set to support a charity rugby match and fun day this month.
The charity fun day will be held at Walkers Sport and Social Club, off Long Lane, Orford, at the end of April.
It will be used as a fundraising day for St Roccos Hospice, as well as Cancer Research UK, and is being supported by ex-Wire players Kev Penny and Paul Wood.
There will be three matches played on the day, which are:
- Warrington Wolves Girls U11s Vs Halton girls U11s
- Warrington Warriors Vs Saddleworth Rangers
- Warrington Select Vs Ireland Select
Also included at the fun day will be food vendors, stalls, face painting, an ice cream van, live music, a bar, and even funfair rides.
For smaller guests, there will be an under-four's soft play area, too, as well as a bouncy castle.
According to the organisers, there will also be around £1,000 of raffle prizes to be won on the day, plus post-match award presentations and celebrations.
The event has gathered support from around 40 different sponsors, which include local and international businesses, such as Nuvia - involved in nuclear engineering - and Warrington Market.
As a result of the support from sponsors, the event has raised £2,500 before even taking place - and the organisers are hoping to raise a further £1,500, as they wish to donate £2,000 to each of the chosen charities.
Also in attendance on the day will be fan-favourite Wolfie, too.
The family fun day is set to take place on Saturday, April 29, and will begin at noon; this is a ticketed event, and adult tickets are £3 with U12s tickets available for £1.50 - all proceeds will go to the chosen charities.
The event will be held at Tetley Walkers Sport and Social Club on Long Lane, Orford.
