ONE lane of the M56 eastbound was closed this morning.

The closure was eastbound between junction 11, A56 Chester Road (Preston Brook) and junction 10, A49 Tarporley Road (Stretton).

The AA's website read at the time: "One lane closed, queueing traffic and traffic problem on M56 Eastbound from J11 A56 Chester Road (Preston Brook) to J10 A49 Tarporley Road (Stretton)."

It is understood that this lane has now been reopened.

Traffic is easing following the issues caused by the lane closure.

The AA's website suggests there were delays of roughly 13 minutes due to the queuing traffic - though this has now eased.

National Highways North West told the Warrington Guardian: "There was a lorry in the hard shoulder with a puncture along the eastbound just before junction 10.

"For safety reasons we closed lane one so the tyre could be changed and get it on the move again as quickly as possible.

"Incident started at 6.52am and the closure was removed by 7.30am."
