MORE rail strikes are set to decimate services across Warrington next week.
Northern has issued a warning to travellers ahead of the strikes on two days next week.
Members of the RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers) are staging industrial action on Thursday, March 16, and Saturday, March 18.
This is despite suspending strike action for Network Rail.
The RMT union will hold two days of 12-hour strike action next week.
Northern will be running amended timetables on the affected days between 7am and 7pm.
There are additional days of strikes planned for March 30 and April 1, too.
Northern has also said that services on the days following the strikes are expected to commence later due to the disruption.
Passengers are being urged to check the timetables before travelling on these days.
Tricia Williams, chief operating officer at Northern, said: “We’re expecting the skeleton services we can run to be very busy – so customers should plan ahead and check before they travel.
“Given the reduced timetable only runs until 7pm, I’m very keen to stress that people should check their ‘last train home’ on those dates – so that customers don’t find themselves stranded at the wrong end of the line as a result of this action by the RMT.”
Northern manages more than 500 stations across the north of England.
