A FRAUDSTER who ripped off her own granddad, a sick burglar who raped a sleeping woman and a sex fiend who sexually assaulted a stranger were among the Warrington criminals brought to justice in February.

Every month, the Warrington Guardian takes a look back at some of the court cases that have been featured in the paper in the weeks previously.

Other defendants appearing during February included a heartless builder who conned the elderly, a loaded gun possesser and a bullying domestic abuser.

CRIME:  Two counts of rape, one of burglary, one of attempting to trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence and three counts of attempted burglary

Apostoae broke into a woman's home at night and raped her while her child slept in the next room.

WHAT THE JUDGE SAID: "There is a high risk of serious harm to the public, and for the protection of the public I need to appoint a lengthy sentence."

SENTENCE: 14 years and eight months in prison

A dad-of-four left his ex-girlfriend with two broken ribs and a collapsed lung after pushing her which led to her falling down the stairs

The court heard how Cheshire Police carried out a search warrant at a bungalow on Stage Lane in the village, only to find two guns hidden in a drawer at the property, one of which was full with ammunition.

The Orford man was caught in possession of a pistol BB gun and a dart in a public place.
