CROFT Parish Council has organised a drop-in session for people in the community to discuss controversial plans for 98 new homes in the area.
The plans were submitted by Bellway Homes to planning chiefs at Warrington Borough Council and - if approved - would see almost 100 homes built as part of a housing development in the community.
It is expected that the development would take place on the land adjacent to Croft Primary School.
A number of objections to the plans were lodged with the council and they appear on the online planning portal, with one suggesting that the plans could see an already-oversubscribed school be strained by the influx of new residents to the area.
Another argues that Croft is primarily a farming village, and its infrastructure does not support the idea of a new housing development; especially one of nearly 100 homes.
It was announced that Croft Parish Council will be holding a drop-in session for anyone impacted by the controversial new plans, which will take place on Saturday, March 4.
The drop-in meeting will be held in the Memorial Hall, off Mustard Lane, and will be open between 11am and 2pm on the day.
Croft Parish Council said: "Plans will be available, as well as your councillors, to explain to residents how to access Warrington Borough Council's planning department to put your comments/objections on this application."
The proposed development would see the demolition of Heathcroft Stud on the land off Deacons Close, and 13 of the 98 homes would be considered to be 'affordable housing.'
Properties would be a mixture of two, three, and four-bedroom houses.
The developers, Bellway Homes, have also submitted plans for housing developments on the Omega site in Burtonwood, as well as for 163 new homes on vacant land off Golborne Road, near Winwick, too.
One of the local borough councillors, Wendy Maisey, said: "I’d encourage as many residents as possible to comment on this application before the deadline of March 13.
"Deacons Close is such a narrow road and the thought of a potential 200-250 cars a day using it to access the proposed development is just not acceptable on many grounds."
This planning application is currently under consideration by planning officers at Warrington Borough Council, and a decision is due to be issued by Monday, May 22.
