A FARM in Stretton is set to be the home of a new garage that will aim to restore and repair 'prestige vehicles.'
Planning chiefs at Warrington Borough Council have given permission for a former potato storage building to be transformed into an automobile garage.
Walnut Tree Farm, off Northwich Road in Stretton, has been given the green light to let out an outbuilding to a company that manages the repair and restoration of high-end cars.
A planning application was submitted to the council regarding a change of use for the building in question into a garage, which bosses at the planning department agreed to on Friday, February 24.
More recently, the building has been used to store documents, but since the document storage company left it has remained vacant for some time.
With this decision, the owners of the building are free to let it to the prospective tenants named in planning documentation as Road and Race Ltd.
Road and Race has more than 30 years of experience in repairing prestige vehicles; including Audi, VW, and Mercedes-Benz, all while being recommended by Porsche.
The company was recognised by Bodyshop Magazine, and was named as 'Bodyshop of the Year' in 2012.
Road and Race is a Manchester-based company, but has been looking to expand to Warrington, with this site being eyed up by the company since the original application was submitted to planning chiefs back in June 2022.
The site is due to have 19 parking spaces, with several reserved for 'VIP vehicles.'
According to the prospective tenants, 70 per cent of their garages' work comes from work done to Porsches - with the most popular Porsche being the fully-electric Taycan, which the company says will highlight its commitment to restoring eco-friendly vehicles.
A letter submitted to the council as part of the planning documents from Road and Race says: "We are all exceptionally keen to see Walnut Tree Farm as Road and Race's future commitment to the rapidly changing face of technology in the search for sustainable repair."
This planning application was submitted in June 2022, and was validated at the beginning of January 2023 - it was approved on Friday, February 24.
