A BOY has been charged with exposure following a series of disturbing incidents on a popular walking route.

The charge comes more than eight months after the reported exposure occurrences on the Trans Pennine Trail in Lymm.

At 5.30pm on Sunday, June 12, Cheshire Police confirmed officers were called to reports of a male suspect exposing himself in the Lymm area.

The caller reported that at around 4.15pm that day, they witnessed a man exposing himself between Heatley Mere and Mill Lane.

The force issued a public appeal for information in a bid to catch the person responsible.

A 16-year-old from the Warrington area, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has now been charged with three counts of exposure.

The charges allege that he ‘intentionally exposed his genitals intending that someone would see them and be caused alarm or distress’.

The youth appeared before Warrington Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Thursday, where he entered not guilty pleas to all three charges.

District judge John McGarva adjourned the case to September before the same court, where the defendant will stand trial.

A greater, high-visibility police presence was visible along the walking route in the days and weeks following the reported flashing incidents.
