THE Ukrainian Family Hub, based in Culcheth, has entered the final push of its fundraising campaign.
Since being established in April 2022, the Ukrainian Family Hub - which runs from The Daten Sports Club, in Culcheth - has helped to support Ukrainian families fleeing to the UK from the horrific war against Russia.
The group undertakes a lot of community work and has so far helped over 280 Ukrainian refugees in Warrington.
Now, the hub wants to push its outreach work even further, by teaming up with The Daten in order to create a community initiative in the heart of Culcheth.
According to the hub: "Now we need to raise funds to provide community sessions for all of the community that are free of charge and promote our focus on building connections and providing a safe warm space in the heart of our community.
"We would like to run at least two free sessions a week where we provide a warm, safe space and provide food and drink."
The hub says that it wants to be able to provide activities for everyone; young or old.
Included in its plans are sports sessions, be it football or table tennis, or other community activities, as well as groups for new mums to bring their children, too.
The Ukrainian Family Hub added: "Should our funding be successful we want to provide a monthly disability disco which will allow parents to relax in the hub whilst their children enjoy a safe place to dance and express themselves as well as many other community sessions such as a dementia cafe, 'IT and biscuits' where the younger generation comes to support the older generation with IT problems."
The hub is using the site 'Crowd Fund' to raise the money it requires in order to expand its services.
According to the funding page, the hub needs to raise £10,000 in order for the funding to be released to the group - this must be reached by 10.35pm on Wednesday, March 15.
At the time of writing, the crowdfunding has reached £6,478 - which is around 64 per cent of the hub's target.
