A DRIVER who died at the scene of a major traffic collision on the M62 has still not been identified.
Cheshire Constabulary confirmed that the incident took place at 4.37am when two HGVs collided near Croft Interchange - Junction 10 eastbound.
The collision resulted in one of the HGVs setting alight, with one of the drivers sadly being killed at the scene of the collision.
Cheshire Constabulary is now appealing for information from other motorists who may have witnessed the incident.
A Cheshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "At 4.37am on Tuesday, January 31, police were called to the collision at junction 10.
"One of the vehicles was on fire, and one of the drivers sadly died at the scene.
"He has not yet been formally identified and efforts remain to trace next of kin."
Sgt Claire Bailey said: "I’d appeal to anyone who was on that stretch of motorway in the early hours of January 31 to get in touch with me if you have witnessed the collision and have not yet spoken to police.
"I’d also ask for any dashcam footage that may help us investigate the collision to contact me."
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the website quoting IML 1468300.
