A NEW application has been sent to Warrington Borough Council to revamp Lymm Poplar 2000 Services.

Initial applications were sent to the council in order to determine whether an environmental impact assessment would be required for the site, but planning officers decided the application did not need this measure.

Now, Moto - the site's developers - has submitted the latest application to transform the services.

According to the developers, the plans will completely revamp the provision for parking at the site.

In addition to improved parking facilities for HGVs, the revamp plans propose an increase of nearly 300 parking spaces for cars and vans.

There will be around 60 new HGV spaces, which 'will help to address the critical national shortage of HGV parking identified in the recent Department for Transport National Lorry Parking Survey 2022,' the developers say.

Included in the proposals are 50 high-powered charging stations for electric vehicles.

If approved, the plans will reconfigure the current parking facilities, while also making use of a nearby field to the north east of the service station.

The developers say that if council bosses approve the plans then there will be substantial landscaping improvements, as well as wildlife habitats being created, plus improvements to road surfaces and pedestrian paths, too.

Moto's property director, Jess Lockwood, told the Warrington Guardian: "We're committed to transforming the UK’s rest stop experience and improving facilities for all our customers, especially HGV drivers who all need a safe place to park a night with the right facilities to meet their needs.”

Jess added: “We are leading the way with EV charging and have recently opened our 15th super EV hub, meaning there are now over 200 High Powered Chargers in total across our sites.

"We're excited to invest in our existing site at Lymm to ensure it is fit for the future.”

The latest plan for the revamp of Lymm services is currently under consideration by Warrington Borough Council's planning chiefs.
