A CAFE in Culcheth has issued a warning online regarding staff members being watched from outside.
According to a social media post, workers at Cafe Piccino have spotted a 'suspicious looking' man hanging around the area and watching members of staff.
Taking to a Culcheth residents' group online to issue the warning, the cafe explained that the individual could be seen observing members of staff as they locked up the premises.
The post reads: "We wanted to warn others that we have been advised there is a suspicious-looking man hanging around near the cafe and Jackson Avenue.
"He has been watching a staff member lock up the cafe.
"He is small and dressed in a blue hoodie with the hood up."
The cafe added: "Hopefully it’s nothing and all will be okay."
Speaking to the Warrington Guardian, Cheshire Constabulary confirmed that they had received no official reports of suspicious behaviour such as this in the area.
However, the cafe continued its warning by stating that it had been told of a violent incident that took place near Sainsbury's in the village over the weekend.
The cafe said: "We’ve unfortunately been advised that there was an incident involving a man of a similar description on Friday evening near Sainsbury's.
"He was involved in an attack against another man."
Responding to a comment request, a Cheshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "At 6.08pm on Friday 20 January police were called to reports of an assault on Common Lane, Culcheth.
"The victim, a 71-year-old man, reported that he had been involved in an altercation with a cyclist after getting off a bus near Sainsbury's.
"During the altercation, the man was punched in the face causing an injury to his face."
The spokesperson added: "The man was subsequently taken to hospital by his partner.
"Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information should contact Cheshire Police at www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, or call 101, quoting IML 1460745."
