A POPULAR nightclub in Warrington town centre appears to have closed its doors for the final time.
The website for Trilogy, located in Friars Gate, has been taken down, while social media pages are also down.
The popular night-time venue is also listed as being ‘permanently closed’ on Google.
Revellers who frequented the nightclub at weekends have been sharing their sadness at the news.
One said: “Trilogy Warrington, what a pleasure you have been. Sad to see you go, onto something new.”
Another, who appears to have worked there, commented: “Trilogy Warrington, it was such a pleasure and I am so glad I got to work here.
“I have gained so much confidence, and I know that will help me in the future with a different job.
“I have made so many new friends for life that feel like family. I am actually going to miss this crazy place that was yet another home of mine.”
Trilogy opened in September 2021, with the team at Epic Bars having spent around seven weeks transforming the former Showbar, which closed during the pandemic, into something ‘stunning’.
A £1million investment saw the building divided into three distinct areas.
The main room was the place to be for R&B, dance and chart tunes, with a thumping sound system and lasers and VIP booths available.
Meanwhile, the Botanic room was ‘picture perfect’ – a ‘pink and flowery escape’ and the most chilled out part of the club to enjoy cocktail trees and snap pictures for Instagram.
For those wanting to dance all night, the Disco Disco room offered cheesy party hits on a dancefloor with mirror balls.
Before opening, site director David Mccaroll said: “All we have ever wanted is to give people a safe and enjoyable night out, and I think that resonates now more than ever.
“Having used the past 14 months to reflect, refresh and refine, we have created something extraordinary, and I cannot wait for Warrington to see it.
“Trilogy is everything anybody could want from a night out – quality drinks and world-class entertainment set in the most stunning environment.
“Not only are nights out back, but Trilogy will make them undeniably better than ever.”
It was boasted that Trilogy could accommodate up to 1,300 guests across two floors and three areas with four bars, as well as ‘new state-of-the-art light and sound and world class DJs’.
Residents of an older generation will remember the building as the Hippodrome. Built in the heyday of variety theatre, the foundation stone was laid in 1907 and was built for an audience of 2,100.
Its life included stints as a music hall, cinema, theatre and bingo hall before becoming a nightclub in more recent times. It was later known as the Palace Cinema and Royal Court Theatre.
Cinema use ended in November 1964 and the theatre was then converted for bingo by Hutchinson’s and rebranded ‘Surewin Bingo’.
Later named Apollo Bingo, it eventually closed altogether in 1997 and spent a number of years empty, but it was later converted for nightclub use and opened under the name of Brannigans.
