GREAT Sankey boasts a higher-than-average rate of employment, according to the Office for National Statistics.
The parish ward in Warrington has an employment rate of almost two-thirds of working-age adults - 65.2 per cent.
This equates to 16,770 residents in Great Sankey.
The national average rate of employment for England and Wales during the 2021 census was 57.2 per cent, placing Great Sankey some five per cent higher than the national average.
This comes from data provided by the ONS following the results of the 2021 census, which revealed a number of statistics about Great Sankey.
Of Great Sankey's population (31,600), 81.4 per cent are above working-age, meaning that 25,722 are aged 16 and over.
11.2 per cent of the ward's population is aged 69 or over, giving Great Sankey a total of 22,183 working-age adults who are below retirement age.
Looking at the ONS data shows that around 35 per cent of working-age residents are unemployed or 'economically inactive,' be that through retirement or for other reasons.
Another area highlighted by the ONS is 'dimensions of deprivation' - there are four dimensions, covering health, education, housing, and employment status.
Of the 12,600 households in the area, some 42.1 per cent are defined as 'deprived in one dimension' or more.
This equates to roughly 5,305 households - or approximately 13,300 residents across the area.
Looking at transportation, around 1,200 households in Great Sankey rely entirely on Warrington's public transport networks, with 10.2 per cent of the area's households having no vehicles associated with them.
Education levels were assessed during the 2021 census, too, which showed that 36.4 per cent of Great Sankey's working-age population have a Level 4 qualification or above.
8.8 million (18.2%) people aged 16 years and over across England and Wales reported having no qualifications.
