Manchester Airport has been named the worst airport by Which? with all three terminals featuring at the bottom of the best and worst airports in the UK list.

Which? asked 7,963 people what their experiences were like when flying from UK airports between July 2020 and July 2022.

While the top airports are small and offer fewer destinations, they’ve been named the best and are considered to give passengers a better experience.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport was the highest-rated airport in the UK but after Which? published its research the airport closed so it has been removed from the list.

Two airports, Exeter and Liverpool John Lennon, have been given Which? Recommended Provider status. This is the first time ever that two airports have received the status at the same time. The two airports received a customer score of 83%.

Each airport was rated based on its customer score, queues at check-in, bag drop, security and passport control. Airports also received a score for baggage reclaim, seating, staff, prices in shops, range of shops and toilets.

It’s not the first time Manchester Airport visitors have claimed the airport isn’t up to scratch, according to Which?’s research but this year it has become even worse.

All three of the airport’s terminals feature at the bottom of the list.

It achieved many two-star ratings (five stars being the highest possible rating) and it was given the lowest score for security queues at each of its terminals.

The customer scores given to Manchester Airport’s terminals are as follows:

  • Terminal 2: 47%
  • Terminal 1: 41%
  • Terminal 3: 38%
