A NEW diner has opened in Newton-le-Willows.

Shakey J’s Family Dining opened its doors on Newton High Street on Monday, January 9, as the six-year-old business moved to its new site with a total rebrand.

Chris Jackson and Claire Maguire, owners of the new diner, took over the former Chouxchouxbedoo café premises and transformed it into a stylish restaurant.

The business, described by Chris as a street food-come-diner, will serve Shakey J’s classics including milkshakes and sweet waffles, as well as savoury dishes ranging from full English to burgers and dirty fries.

The food served will be made-to-order, with the diner’s chicken predicted to be a mouth-watering winner.

Discussing the grand opening of the diner, 35-year-old Chris said: "I’m dead excited. For the last week, it’s been busy, but now the day’s come and we feel ready.

"We were a bit wet behind the ears when we first opened Shakey J’s nearly seven years ago, but now we are more confident and that’s why I probably feel a bit better this time round.

"Everyone is welcomed, and we hope to see you all."

Claire, 37, added: "Our whole lives have gone into the business. We’ve put everything into it and it’s for the kids; we’ve had them with us from day one of renovating.

"We’ve already had a positive response from the community, and without our families collectively, this wouldn’t have happened."

A website for the business was also launched Sunday night, which allows customers to book a booth.
