Where is the investigation up to?

Ireland made his first court appearance in proceedings before Chester Magistrates Court yesterday morning.

He has been remanded in custody and will next appear before Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday.

As previously mentioned, the woman arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail.
