In a Christmas plagued with strikes, a cost-of-living crisis, and unnerving news at every corner, sometimes a Christmas film is a vital reminder of the pure joy the holiday season can bring.
We have put together all the best Christmas films showing in Warrington this week so you can plan your Christmas watch-list.
Elf
A beloved Christmas classic, Elf is showing across Warrington this week, with screenings in the evening, afternoon, or morning.
The film focuses on Buddy the Elf, a human who is raised amongst the elves, discovers they aren’t really an Elf and travels to New York to find their father. Along the way they learn the true meaning to Christmas, in a fun festive film for the whole family.

Home Alone, and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
The Home Alone franchise has had five films, two different reboots, and many attempts to recapture the magic of the first two.
The festive cheer and brilliance of the first two has never been reached again, however, and as such there are multiple screenings of both across Warrington this week (and exactly zero screenings of Home Alone 3, 4, or Home Sweet Home Alone, as there should be.)
Odeon Warrington:
Tomorrow: 11:40 (Home Alone), 20:00 (Home Alone 2: Lost in New York)
Friday: 15:00 (Home Alone)
Christmas Eve: 15:00 (Home Alone), 20:00 (Home Alone 2: Lost in New York)
Cineworld Warrington:

Christmas Eve: 16:40 (Home Alone), 19:10 (Home Alone)
The Muppet’s Christmas Carol
One of my personal favourites, this muppet-filled edition of the Charles Dickens literary classic is unironically the best adaptation of Dickens' work brought to film.
Full of heart, laughs, and sure to produce a few teary-eyed parents, it is a must-see Christmas film.
Odeon Warrington:
Tomorrow: 10:00
Friday: 10:10
Christmas Eve: 12:40
Cineworld Warrington:
Friday: 10:30
Saturday: 10:30, 17:40
Best of the Rest
As well as these three classics, there are numerous festive films screening in Warrington all week. A personal favourite is Arthur Christmas, showing at the Odeon once each day till Christmas Eve, a criminally underrated film with an outstanding cast.
Another showing is Batman Returns, the most festive of Comic-Book films starring Michael Keaton and Danny Devito and set over Christmas in Gotham. Batman Returns is playing at 19:40 on Friday at Cineworld Warrington.
