CRAWLERS this last weekend returned to Warrington as part of their tour of intimate shows, ahead of a huge tour across America.
The band, freshly crowned Warrington band of the year, is headed by singer Holly Minto, 21, from Southport, who runs all their uniquely personal social media.
It also, however, features guitarist Amy Woodall, 21, and Liv May 22, who plays the bass, both of whom are from Warrington. The band is rounded out by drummer Harry Breen, 24, the only southerner of the group from Surrey.
The gig, which took place at FC2, was a mix of intimate acoustic songs, rocky anthems, and their now world-famous song Come Over (Again) which led the band to blow up on Tik-Tok.
Whilst the band predominantly became big in Liverpool, when speaking about the return to Warrington Amy said, “this is where our first gigs were, we did so many gigs in The Lounge when we first started out and no one was there, and we did a bunch of gigs at Friar’s Court too.”
Throughout the gig Holly would take points between songs to talk about issues close to the band, but reiterated on multiple occasions their love for Warrington and how important it was to allow Amy and Liv to return home along the tour.
When asked about the best part of returning to Warrington, Liv quickly replied, “seeing my family probably,” whilst Amy replied even quicker saying “Friar’s [Court].”
The band, who played Neighbourhood Weekender last year as well as opening for My Chemical Romance at Victoria Park, performed two more gigs after Warrington before ending their UK tour.
Now however, they are ramping up for a tour of America starting at the end of February that will take them all over the country and spoke of how “for the first time ever the band will have a tour bus and we might actually be able to sleep between shows.”
The band have a uniquely close connection to their fans, with many becoming fans of not just Crawlers but the team behind them.
Manager Mark Threlfall, himself an accomplished musician from Liverpool, has become known as “Uncle Mark” to Crawlers fans, with people coming up to him at shows with the level of adoration you’d expect reserved for members of the band.
This, however, is by design, with Holly saying, “people don’t know how much goes into tour, it’s so important to us that everyone gets that credit, in our team they’re all multi-rolling in the belief we’re gonna make it in the long run.”
With the gig finishing on an anthemic performance of a song from their new mixtape ‘Loud Without Noise’, the band could be found after sticking true to their roots and their word, having a drink at Friar’s Court next door.
