A TEENAGER is being questioned by police investigating the unsavoury incident involving Warrington Town goalkeeper Tony Thompson last month.

During an FA Trophy tie with Guiseley at Cantilever Park, Thompson’s water bottle was swapped for one containing urine and when the stopper drank from it, he squirted it at a visiting supporter.

Thompson was sent off and Town lost the game 1-0, but the incident went viral and a video of the incident soon emerged.

Police have been investigating the incident and confirmed a 16-year-old had voluntarily submitted himself for questioning.

"A 16-year-old boy from Leeds has voluntarily attended a police station for questioning.

"Enquiries in relation to the incident remain ongoing."

Guiseley, who play in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, said the fan in the video was identified by club officials and is banned from all home and away matches.

The incident led to a long stoppage as players confronted fans behind the goal at Warrington's Cantilever Park.

The fan was ejected but the referee sent Thompson off, sparking fury among the hosts.

Thompson tweeted after the match: "Today I fell out of love with the GAME!

"I've been called many names but for someone to p*ss in my bottle, for me to drink it and then to be told I wasn't allowed to react because I'm a player is outrageous.

"That person has put me my family's health at risk and knocked me sick."
