1.) The Brass Monkey, Cairo Street - 4.9

This trendy bar in the centre of town promises all the live action from the match on Saturday, with one review saying: "It's the best place to watch sport in town.

"Great cocktails and music to carry on late into the night too!"

Another added: "Great bar., good atmosphere, nice and friendly staff - would definitely recommend, and I will be going again."

2.) The Tavern, Church Street - 4.6

A familiar sight to anyone driving through town, The Tavern has stood on Church Street for a number of years.

One review for The Tavern could not recommend it enough, saying: "This is a great local pub that serves as a tap room for the 4T's brewery up the road.

"A good selection of local and brewery cask beers and a decent selection of guest beers both on keg and cask.

"As a sports bar, it has a good number of TVs inside and out the back that show a range of sports, especially Rugby League and premiership football."

The club was established in 1967, and is 'a thriving community club showcasing all of the action from all of the big games in live sport every day of the week.'

One review said: "Great place, nice pint - an even nicer price!"

Another added: "Very, very friendly, snooker and pool in the bar, alongside a dart board and Sky Sports, I would highly recommend."

A third review said: "What a club, what a host.

"Top, top drawer. Superb service, food and banter."

4.) The Pickering Arms, Bell Lane - 4.5

A traditional pub that has stood in Thelwall since the 16th Century, as claimed by one review - it said: "A wonderful little pub dating back to the 16th Century!

"They have a lovely selection of on-tap beverages, the Madri beer is really smooth, I'd highly recommend it.

"The pub is dog friendly and offers complementary dog treats."

Another reviewer agreed, ranking the pub five-out-of-five, adding: "Stopped here on a whim. Very old, brilliant oldy-worldy pub.

5.) The Parr Arms, Grappenhall Lane - 4.5

Boasting a wide selection of cask and craft ales, The Parr Arms has been part of the community in Grappenhall for as long as anyone can remember.

One reviewer said: "Great little country pub with real ales and pub food. The staff were very friendly and welcoming too.

"This pub is dog friendly, so an ideal stop off whilst taking a stroll."

In an ideal location overlooking St Wilfrid's churchyard, the reviews for The Parr Arms are overwhelmingly positive, making it a solid choice for the match on Saturday.

The pub says: "Our pub is proud to be part of the community. We know our regulars' names and drink, and we serve a proper pint.

"Was staying in a hotel close by, and decided to venture out, headed here on a Monday night, it was relatively busy, and the food was amazing, so came again on Tuesday! 

"The bar staff were very welcoming with an instant rapport, will definitely come here again if staying in the area."

10.) The Wolves, Orford Lane - 4.2

Renowned for coverage of live sports, the reviews for The Wolves suggest it could be a strong contender for your choice of viewing spot for England v France: "Nice pub, went to watch the football, reasonably priced drinks, will come again."
