ACCORDING to the Census data for 2021, almost 1 in 2 households are ‘deprived’.

48.1% of Warrington households are deprived according to the four measures the ONS census data use for deprivation.

These are Employment, Education, Income, and Health and means that 1 in 2 households are deprived in at least one of these four ways.

This comes out to 43,541 households in Warrington, with 14,505 of these households being deprived in 2 or more dimensions.

Almost 3,000 households are deprived in three or more of the dimensions measured by the census.

Below is a chart demonstrating the wider census data on deprivation for Warrington and across the UK.

More census data, including on Population and Identity, can be found here and will be updated over the coming weeks.

Charlotte Nichols MP said “Any rise in deprivation in our town is concerning and shows the unfortunate need for the incredible work done by the Warrington Foodbank and the Bread-and-Butter Thing, among others.

We rightly celebrate being a successful town of brilliant businesses and jobs, but these figures highlight the numbers who are suffering, particularly in these worsening economic times, and I will always strive to speak up for them.”
