JAMES Harrison has committed his long-term future to Warrington Wolves.

The prop forward, who is about to enter his second season as a Wire player, has penned a two-year extension to his deal with the club.

Having been about to come into the final year of his deal, Harrison is now tied to The Halliwell Jones Stadium until November 2025.

The 26-year-old joined The Wire from Championship side Featherstone Rovers for 2022 but first had to work his way back from an ACL injury sustained while playing for the Yorkshiremen.

"Getting my future sorted quickly was a goal of mine towards the back end of the season," Harrison said.

"When I arrived, I spoke with Nick Murphy the club physio and told him I wanted to get back fit as soon as possible so I could earn a new contract.

"I’m very glad it’s worked out that way.

"I wanted to get it sorted before the season started so I could concentrate on my rugby.

"With the injury from last year, it is good to get it sorted in case the worst happens.

"That security is there now so I’m really happy."

Upon his return, he went straight into the side and impressed in the 12 appearances he managed – so much so that he has been given the number eight jersey for 2023.

For head coach Daryl Powell, though, there were never any doubts about his ability to step up to the top flight.

“When we signed James I was 100% certain he would be a consistent Super League player," he said.

“After his injury that became a bit tougher for him. However, his efforts for us last year showed how good he is going to be in the future and is why I feel this deal is a great one for the club. 

“I’m looking forward to seeing how he grows over the coming years but I am super confident he will be an integral part of our success.”
