SAS Rogue Heroes, the new BBC show focusing on the formation of the SAS during the Second World War has been renewed for a second season.

This follows a hugely successful first, in which the show was heavily praised and was watched by an audience of 9.4 million during its first episode. This was the third highest drama premiere of the BBC this year.

The show, starring Sex Education star Connor Swindells, heavily features Warrington actor Corin Silva, 29, as Gentleman Jim Almonds.

Jim was one of the founding members of the SAS, and his contemporaneous diaries were a large basis on which the book that inspired this show was based on.

The show has received rave reviews, with a 100% rating on review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes.

The Guardian gave it 4/5 stars, calling it “a big and brash adventure drama, witty, pacy, confident, and, as you might expect, occasionally very violent.”

This was echoed by Empire, who also gave it 4 stars and said that "writer Steven Knight brings his A-game to this vividly realised and relentlessly enthralling account of the creation of the SAS."

Corin will return as Gentlemen Jim for season two, with the actor saying: "These lads did some incredible stuff and it’s been amazing to be a part of the story - I'm so excited that the next part gets to be told

If you’re after spoilers - check the book out!"
